How to Use Your Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

Ever wondered how you would use our shampoo and conditioner bars? Unlike bottled shampoo and conditioner, they are both eco-friendly and great for your hair. They can take some getting used to when switching from bottled hair care products, but like our customers say, once you make the change you’ll never want to go back!

Using Our Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

It’s time to take advantage of the multiple benefits that using shampoo and conditioner bars offer, including:

  • Reduced plastic waste
  • Longer lasting
  • 100% natural ingredients
  • Less shower storage space required
  • Gentle on hair

Even better, they are super easy to use and leave your hair feeling and looking gorgeous. Whether you’ve purchased your first bars or are on the fence about switching from bottled products, here are our simple steps for using them:

  1. Wet your hair. Wet your shampoo bar and rub it between your hands to help it lather.
  2. Apply directly to your hair, from the tips to the roots, massaging as you go.
  3. Rinse your hair well.
  4. Follow the same steps with your conditioner bar.
  5. Run your fingers through your hair to remove any tangles or knots that are present (a sign you have not used enough of the conditioner bar).
  6. Rinse your hair well.

We recommend that your bars are stored somewhere dry and free draining. Our recycled plastic Soap Holders are ideal for this.

What to Expect When First Using Solid Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

Traditional bottled shampoo and conditioner products contain many synthetically made products, including silicone, waxes and silica. While designed to make your hair shiny, they not only strip your hair and scalp of its natural oils, but also coat your hair with a residue build up that is difficult to remove.

You can help start this process before using your solid bars by using a combination of one tablespoon of baking soda mixed into one cup of lukewarm water on your hair and scalp. After wetting your hair, massage this into your hair and scalp, then leave for a few minutes before rinsing well. Then use your shampoo and conditioner bars with the steps we listed earlier.

As your hair and scalp rebalance their natural oils, your hair may feel dry, sticky or dull. This period will pass, so persevere with using your bars – we promise it will be worth it! If you have any questions, we’d love to help answer them; please get in touch.
