All Skye Candle and Body Care products are homemade and handcrafted in Wellington, New Zealand.
What Type of Wax Do You Use in Your Candles?
We use 100% natural soy wax, which is plant-based, non carcinogenic, and non-toxic. Soy wax candles burn 50% longer than paraffin wax candles and produce little to no soot, making them gentle for those with breathing issues and allergies.
What Wicks Do You Use in Your Soy Candles?
We use ECO wicks, made from natural flat cotton threads interwoven with paper threads. ECO wicks are lead and zinc free, ensuring a consistent flame and even burn.
Are Your Candles Paraben & Phthalate Free?
Yes, our soy candles are GMO free, contain no paraffin or unnatural additives, and are biodegradable, renewable, and environmentally safe.
Why Do Soy Candles Start to Change Colour?
Soy candles can change colour over time, appearing dry or flaky if not burned for a while. This is because soy wax is a natural product. When relit, the surface will return to normal.
What Kind of Fragrances Do You Use in Your Scented Soy Candles?
We use both synthetic fragrances and essential oil blends that are phthalate and paraffin free, non-toxic, and made from premium quality ingredients. Soy wax holds aromas well and releases fragrance oils slowly due to its low melting point.
What Is Candle Tunnelling, and How Do I Fix It?
Candle tunnelling occurs when a candle burns straight down the middle instead of reaching the edges. To avoid it, ensure the first burn lasts at least 2 hours or until the wax pool reaches the edges. To fix tunnelling, scoop out the built up wax with a spoon and relight the candle, allowing it to burn to the edges.
Can I Recycle My Jar After My Soy Candle Is Finished?
Yes, once the candle is finished, peel off the stickers, pour boiling water with dishwashing powder or detergent into the jar, let it cool, and remove the remaining wax and wick. Wash and dry the jar for reuse or dispose of it in the recycling bin
